Vaccination Information & Preferences

Vaccinations help protect your cat from several serious and potentially life-threatening diseases. Even indoor cats may be at risk through accidental escape, exposure to other animals, or viruses carried into the home on clothing, shoes, or objects.

Rabies Vaccine:

Rabies is a fatal viral disease that can affect both animals and humans. Vaccination is required by North Carolina law for cats over 16 weeks of age.

FVRCCP (“Distemper”) Vaccine:

This vaccine helps protect against several highly contagious feline diseases, including Panleukopenia (“feline distemper”), Rhinotracheitis (herpesvirus), and Calicivirus. These viruses can cause severe respiratory and gastrointestinal illness.

Feline Leukemia (FeLV) Vaccine:

This vaccine helps protect against feline leukemia virus, which can weaken the immune system and may lead to serious illness. Cats that go outdoors or have contact with other cats may have increased exposure risk.

If your cat is healthy enough for vaccination at the time of the exam, please select which vaccines you would like updated. Some vaccines may require booster visits or an initial vaccine series depending on your cat’s age and vaccine history.

Wellness Bloodwork Recommendations

At Felines First Veterinary Hospital, routine wellness bloodwork is part of our standard recommendations for feline preventive care. Cats are very good at hiding illness, and many medical conditions can develop before noticeable symptoms appear at home.

Wellness testing helps us monitor your cat’s internal health and may allow for earlier detection of conditions such as kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, liver disease, infection, and other common feline illnesses. Early detection often allows for earlier treatment and better long-term quality of life.

If your cat is healthy enough for testing at the time of the exam, please select an option below:

At Felines First Veterinary Hospital, we believe in providing consistent, thorough, and individualized recommendations based on your cat’s age, lifestyle, health status, and current standards of feline medical care. Recommendations made during your cat’s care and examinations represent our hospital’s standards of care and are intended to support your cat’s long-term health and wellbeing.

We understand that every family’s circumstances, priorities, and decisions are different. While you may choose to decline or postpone certain recommendations, our team may continue to discuss these recommendations at future visits as part of maintaining consistent medical care and preventive health discussions for your cat.
