Practice Manager
Laura H.
Laura, a native of New Bern, has both been brought up and raised her own son in this very town.

Throughout her 13-year tenure with Craven Animal Hospital, Laura has donned a variety of roles. Her career began as a kennel attendant. After a brief hiatus, she returned to the hospital, this time as a veterinary assistant. Recognizing her potential, the hospital promoted her to the inaugural "lead" of that department, entrusting her with the management of a small team. As she participated in the launch of Craven's new facility in 2017, her responsibilities expanded to include more administrative tasks with the medical team. This led to her advancement to the position of Assistant Practice Manager, a role she dutifully fulfilled for several years. When discussions arose about adding a new hospital to the company's portfolio, Laura enthusiastically put herself forward and was chosen to spearhead Felines First Veterinary Hospital.
An enthusiast of continual learning, Laura relishes both practical knowledge and trivia. She enjoys a few hobbies such as crafting metal jewelry, obsessing over her young cats, and has a deep love of the sea (pools, ponds, lakes and rivers), sand and sun. Her latest pastime involves creating and widely placing cat stickers throughout the hospital.
Receptionist
Bess P.
Bess is originally from the Pittsburgh/Bedford area of Pennsylvania and has recently relocated to Kinston! She started with us in July and is so excited to start her career in the veterinary field. Bess has spent the last few years going to school at Point Park University and working in event planning/marketing.

Bess is loving being close to the beach. She likes to spend her free time reading, tending to her houseplants, and spending time with her husband, fur-babies and other family. If she is not at work, she likely has a book in her hand.

Veterinary Assistant
Allison W.
Allison is originally from Biglerville Pennsylvania, but she couldn't wait to move to NC and be near the beach. Allison has been in the veterinary field for many years and jokes that if she gave you the number of years, you may question if there were truly veterinary assistants in the Stone Age.

Allison has enjoyed her 4 years with the staff at Craven Animal Hospital and now Felines First Veterinary Hospital and looks forward to several more. She is excited to be working in a Fear Free environment and has gained even more knowledge in the area of (you guessed it) cats! She has been made a believer in the techniques and environmental enrichment utilized here by watching cats transform from scared and feisty to calm and cooperating patients.

She only has one little negative thing to say about her transition to Felines First: "My pups Carina and Macy can't come visit me, but they are happy that 'Mom' loves her job!"
Veterinary Assistant
Caitlin L.
Caitlin comes to us from Asheboro NC. She has worked in the veterinary field for 6 years, three of those have been spent at Craven Animal Hospital and now Felines First.
Caitlin has two sweet kitty boys named "Anubis" and "Leo". On her off time she enjoys traveling, kayaking, skiing, and singing. While she's here she enjoys successful venipuncture, placing intravenous catheters, and performing nail trims. Her favorite thing to do here? "Cuddling with your sweet fur babies and giving extra love and care."
Veterinary Assistant
Karen B.
As one of our veteran employees, Karen has been with the Craven family for almost 8 years.

Karen was able to travel and experience several parts of the United States while her father served in the USMC for 33 years, including right here in the Havelock area. Graduating from Kalaheo High School in Hawaii guarantees that Hawaii will always be one of her favorite states, but she eventually made it back to Havelock.

She has raised 2 children and cared for many animals over the years. Karen loves working in the animal field and when asked what she loves the most about it states "she just loves animals and being able to speak and advocate for those who can not speak for themselves".
Kennel: Feline Caregiver
Jakob H.
Jakob is our kennel attendant at FFVH. He came to us with 4 years of experience in the field. He loves caring for the kitties and does his best to make sure that they feel happy and safe.
In his free time, Jakob likes to keep up on football and baseball, play video games, and cuddle with his own dogs and cats.
Kennel: Feline Caregiver
Ashley S.
Ashley, a loving mother to her three children—Jacob, Nola, and Wyatt—is originally from New York. Prior to relocating to North Carolina to be nearer to her family, she spent most of her life in Pennsylvania.

In addition to providing superb care to our feline guests, she cares for own beloved cats: Loki, Lilith, and Kira.

Ashley's hobbies include baking, gardening, and trying her hand at various Pinterest crafts. She enjoys the simple pleasures of thunderstorms and the crisp fall air. She's also an active parent, often engaging in disc golf with her kids and traveling to explore new places near and far.
