Final Notes

Boarding Policies and Requirements

Overnight Care:

Please be advised that while we provide care and monitoring for your cat throughout the day, our staff members are not present at the facility overnight. The cats are secured in their individual boarding suites, and the premises are monitored by a security system. I have read and understand this policy regarding overnight staffing.

Preventatives:

  • All cats are REQUIRED to be current on an approved flea preventative at the time of boarding. Only veterinary-approved flea preventatives are acceptable. Natural remedies and homemade treatments are not considered adequate protection against fleas and are not accepted under any circumstances. Flea collars are also limited to Seresto Collars; no other brands or types of flea collars are approved. If the preventative product was not purchased in our clinic, you may be asked to show proof of purchase at the time of check-in.

  • If your cat is not currently on an approved flea preventative, or if evidence of fleas is observed during your pet's stay, they will be treated with a preventative as deemed necessary by Felines First Veterinary Hospital, at your expense.

Rabies Vaccine:

All cats 5 months of age or older must have proof of Rabies vaccination for boarding.

  • Cats 6 months of age or older that have never received a Rabies vaccine must receive their initial Rabies vaccination at least 3 weeks prior to boarding and are not eligible to board until this requirement has been met.

  • Cats with a previous Rabies vaccination that is overdue may be eligible to have the vaccine updated at check-in at the owner’s expense.

FVRCP (Feline Distemper) Vaccine:

All cats must be current on FVRCP (feline distemper) vaccination for boarding, as age-appropriate.

  • Cats with a previous FVRCP vaccination history that are simply overdue may be eligible to have their vaccine updated at check-in at the owner’s expense.

  • Cats that have never received FVRCP vaccines, have not completed their kitten vaccine series, or have no verifiable vaccine history should begin or resume vaccination at least 3 weeks prior to boarding so immunity has time to develop.

  • If an additional booster is still needed after that visit, it may be performed at check-in when appropriate.

  • Kittens whose vaccines are current for their age may be eligible for placement in one of our outer Luxury Suites as an alternative, based on availability and staff approval.

  • Cats of boarding age that are unvaccinated, incompletely vaccinated, or lacking required pre-boarding vaccines may require isolation housing, which includes an additional setup fee.

Food & Belongings:

We recommend bringing your pets own food to minimize gastrointestinal issues from a sudden diet change. If you choose to bring your pets own food, it must be in a resealable container or Ziplock bag(s). Open bags of food that cannot be resealed are unacceptable. The hospital feeds Hill's Science Diet Sensitive Skin and Stomach to help minimize diarrhea/vomiting that may be associated with diet changes. If your pet runs out of their own food and we are unable to contact you, we will feed our in-house food as a back-up. If your pet has any food allergies, please make us aware at the time of check-in. Please do not bring any bowls (unless slow feeder/elevated bowls), large beds, oversized blankets, or crates. We clean and sanitize our stainless steel bowls and in-house bedding. Felines First Veterinary Hospital cannot be responsible for loss and damage to personal items brought to the kennel.

Medication & Supplement Policy:

  • All medications and supplements must be provided in their original labeled containers. Any medication, supplement, or item that requires administration, verification, encouragement of intake, handling, monitoring, or documentation during my cat’s stay is subject to boarding medication administration fees.

  • Some treatments, including but not limited to subcutaneous fluids, most injectable medications, or services requiring veterinary medical judgment, must be performed by the hospital’s medical team and are billed separately at applicable medical service rates.

  • Optional non-prescription items left solely for voluntary use and not requiring staff involvement may be excluded from fees at the hospital’s discretion.

I have read, understand, and agree to abide by the policies above regarding weekend building access, overnight hours, medications, flea preventatives, vaccinations, and personal belongings.

Boarding Release & Treatment Authorization

I understand that Felines First Veterinary Hospital will use reasonable care and precautions during my cat’s stay. I acknowledge that illness, injury, escape, or unforeseen complications may occur despite such care. If medical concerns arise while I am absent, I authorize the hospital to act in accordance with the care preferences selected above, and I accept responsibility for associated costs.

Please be prepared to review final meal amounts and timing, medication timing, flea prevention details, additional requested services, and CPR choices with our team at drop-off.

For the comfort and protection of all boarding cats, any signs of active fleas or flea activity will require prompt treatment at the owner’s expense, even if prevention has reportedly been applied.
